syslogは負荷が高いとログの取りこぼしがありますが今回のは
違うような気がします。

あくまで推測の域をでないのですが、受信した形跡がないのに
from=<>からの送信ログがあるのでエラーメールを送信しようと
しているのではないかと思います。

自サイトのログをサンプルに探してみたところuser unknownなど
のメールを受け取った際に送信してきたメールとエラーで返した
メールではIDが変わっているので検索結果に引っかからなかった
のではないでしょうか？

抜粋したログの少し前に
from=<oliphantpartheniaf0a7ehpsc@xxxxxxxxx>
な行を調べてみてはいかがでしょうか？
