書かれている話と出ているログがちぐはぐな気がします。
どのようなネットワーク構成になっているかや何処と何処の通信が
だめだったかをちゃんと書いてもらうと答えやすくなると思います。
例)
test1.example.com: 192.168.157.1/24
test2.example.com: 192.168.157.2/24
client.example.com: 192.168.0.1/24

--+----+------|router|---client (192.168.0/24)
  |    |
test1 test2 (192.168.157/24)


また、smtpdの処理が何処まで進んでいるか、全く進んでいないのか
というのも重要な指標になると思います。

余談ですが、
自分はjailの中にPostfixにてSMTPサーバーを立ち上げ、
同一jail内に居るClamSMTPdと通信させようとして
connection time outになった経験があります。
pfの設定で、jail内の通信をkeep stateでやるようにしていた時に
出ていたので恐らくはFreeBSDのpfのバグなんでしょうね。
